Root Canal Therapy - February 4, 2008

Root canal therapy aims to clean, shape and fill the entire root canal of a tooth. A root canal infection can be caused by several things, including decay, injury and possibly also gum disease. Root canal therapy can repair your damaged tooth without the need to have it removed.

The aim of root canal therapy is to rid your gums of the damaged pulp and the bacteria that are causing infection. The therapy involves removing nerves and blood vessels from the centre of your tooth. This is done by drilling a hole through the top of your tooth to the root canal and removing the dead tissue.

The root canal can then be cleaned, filled and a permanent seal put over the top of your tooth.

Many patients are nervous about having this treatment carried out but at Ultimate Smile Spa we reassure you that we understand the needs of nervous patients and we will be more than happy to talk you through the process and make you as comfy as possible before and during the treatment.
